The British Summer is well and truly here and so are the beautiful events of our Summer Social Season. One of the key highlights of these events is reviewing the fabulous parade of attendees outfits.. All good outfit building starts with careful planning! Luckily I've done all the work and found the best pieces from high end to high street.
Read on for top tips for planning for the upcoming Wimbledon, Henley and Goodwood..
1. Florals the 2018 way
Floral prints whilst being oh so very British, can appear a little twee if done the wrong way.. First and foremost look for a cut that feels relevant to today. Wrap dresses and tea dresses are on trend with perfect timing. Pair your florals with contemporary or quirky accessories and jewellery. Ganni and Alice and Olivia offer contemporary well priced options whereas Erdem has nailed it with their event appropriate selection of florals this season

2. Be prepared for a very British Summer
The forecast this week is glorious but let's face it, in Britain, we never really know what the weather has in store for us! Plan your outfit to include a charming coat or jacket in seasonally appropriate light weight fabric, a soft summer colour or a pretty print

3. Show a little British eccentricity
Hats are fabulous additions to an outfit for lots of reasons.. they can be wonderfully flattering to the face, they work well for those who prefer to keep the attention focused up high and of course they are a great way to show your quirky side! For 2018, the rule of thumb is 'the bigger, the better' when it comes to head wear. Think Kristen Scott Thomas in 4 weddings and you're on the right track. Mulberry and up and coming brand Jacquemus both went huge scale on their hats this Spring.

4. Don't get lost in the rose bushes
Although florals are big news right now, there are other fabulous prints to consider which can help to create the ultimate look and help you show your individuality. Spots and dots in particular are perfect for Summer Social Events since they are feminine and pretty but less girly than florals. Julia Roberts' brown floral look in Pretty Woman comes to mind here. From spots at Ganni to Stripes at Roksanda and Self Portrait to Geometric and Mara Hoffman, have fun picking the print that works best for your colouring and body scale.
